Elephant Sands Lodge Activities
Offering a wide range of activities in the surrounding areas of Makgadikgadi pans and the Okavango delta, to name a few, Elephant Sands Lodge provides a truly unique experience. With activities such as Mountain Bike Adventures, Game Drives, Bush Walks and Braai's, Camps out on the African Pans, and many more. The combination of our traditional accommodation and adventurous activities makes Elephant Sands Lodge one of the best in it's league.
Mountain Bike Adventure
Riders meet organisers at the Wimpy in Nata at 15h00 the day before the ride starts. From here you will be guided to the first nights sleeping spot on the magnificent pans. The event is open to non-riders and friends of riders who will have to drive their 4x4’s to the overnight spots.
Unfortunately due to the ecological sensitivity of the pans vehicles will not be allowed to follow riders onto the pans. However event staff will lead the daily convoy to the overnight spots.
Day One is a 47 km north to south crossing of Sowa pan which finishes on the famous Kubu Island, where your shower and cold beer awaits.
For a change of scenery the 66 km second stage takes you along the ridgeline between the Sowa and Ntwetwe Pans before heading west along the cattle fence and finishing off on the Ntwetwe Pan.
The final day is a short 37 km stage where you will head north into the finger of the pan. All in all 150-km of pure pan riding pleasure.
Game Drives
We offer guided morning (06:00 AM) and afternoon (04:00PM) game drives in our open game viewing vehicles.
Our game drives either take place on Elephant Sands’ 16000 ha private conservancy or in a nearby wildlife concession.
Enjoy the opportunity to view wildlife in its natural surroundings.
More than 95000 resident and migrating elephants in this area will make the most beautiful sightings of these gentle giants possible for you.
Other wildlife this beautiful area has to offer includes buffalo, lion, giraffe, wild dog, hyena, steenbok, leopard, kudu and plenty more.

Makgadikgadi Pans Camp
Are you ready to depart on an unforgettable pan experience on one of the largest salt flats in the world?
A scenic drive will lead you towards the camping site for the night. The ‘moonscape’ with its white, dry salt crust makes for a surreal and magical camping location. Enjoy the most beautiful indescribable sunset and sunrise with a 360° view!
Game to be seen includes jackal, blue wildebeest, zebra, ostrich, springbok, and plenty of birdlife though this activity is really all about the scenery.
Dinner, breakfast and refreshments are included.
There will be a bush toilet and we will provide open air canvas bucket showers.
Children 12 and under receive a 50% discount.
Minimum of 4 guests required.
Bush Walk (2 hours)
Let our professional guide share his knowledge about the bush with you. Learn about the fascinating uses of native plants and find out how to identify animal tracks.
On foot you will smell, hear, see, feel and experience the bush in a unique way!

Minimum of 2 guests per walk required.
Bush Braai
Enjoy a delicious hearty meal prepared for you by our wonderful chef on the open fire.
Depart in the late afternoon on a game drive to the braai site. Witness the beauty of the bush as day turns into night. After an unforgettable sunset we will be returning to the lodge.

Bush Camp
After a Game Drive in our open game viewing vehicle you will arrive at the camping site for the night. We will put up camp for you on a remote and secluded location.This is for the adventurous only; just you and the bush!
After a delicious and hearty dinner prepared on the open fire there will be time for stargazing and relaxing around the campfire while sharing some great stories.
The excitement of listening to lions roaring or hyenas calling in the distance (or close by!) is unforgettable.
A warm breakfast is included the following morning as well as drinking water and coffee/tea.
There will be a bush toilet and we will provide open air canvas bucket showers.

Kubu Island Trip
Spend a night at the photographer’s paradise called Kubu Island.
The mystical atmosphere created by the moonlight reflecting on the almost white surface of the endless salt pans and the ancient baobabs surrounding the campsite cannot be described in words.
It is a national monument, a magical experience, a sacred place.
Dinner & Breakfast, camping & entrance fee are all included in this activity.
The campsite has long drop toilets and we will provide canvas bucket showers.
